Alto 800 Specs: Features of New Maruti Alto

Features of New Maruti Alto 800

Variants and Colors

There are three variants such as STD, LX and LXI for both versions (Petrol and CNG). The LXI variant of petrol version is also available with an optional driver airbag. All the seven variants are available in six attractive colors such as frost blue, blazing red, torque blue, granite grey, silky silver and superior white.

Design

The new Maruti Alto 800 is a mixture of Alto K10 and the Maruti A-Star in terms of design. It features a unique Wavefront design which blends well with an entry level car. The car has hexagonal grille and leaf shaped headlamps just like Ford Figo. The Alto 800 side view is similar to the Alto F8D. It has smooth long curves, rising window line and the prominent wheel arches. The rear design is clean, tidy and edgy which remind us of A-Star and Alto’s rear. Compared to the older Alto, the doors of Alto 800 are thinner.

Dimensions and Ground Clearance

The dimensions of the car are 3395mm x 1475mm and 1490mm. It is 15 mm taller, 15 mm wider and 100mm shorter compared to the older Alto. The wheelbase and ground clearance are same at 2360mm and 160mm respectively.

Interiors

The car is equipped with fresh, spacious and superior quality interiors. You get a choice to choose grey or beige interiors. It has improved head and shoulder room in front as well as leg room at rear. The utility space is provided for keeping can, coins and a 1-litre bottle. The thinner doors increase the interior passenger space and comfort. There are integrated headrests for the front seats rather than removable found in older car. There is a big speedometer along with an LCD display. The LCD display provides information about the fuel level, trip meter and odometer. Remaining warnings come with tell-tale lights in the cluster.

Dashboard and Center Console

The Alto 800 has V-shaped center console that features the HVAC controls, utility space and the single DIN music system. The DIN music system is optional in low end variants. Just above the center console, you can see a semi-dome type shape with AC vents. Horizontal shaped storage space is located in the left side of center console. For convenience, the power window has been placed on the floor console near the handbrake lever. The looks of the interiors are further enhanced by the silver accents on the centre console, the door handles, 3-spoke steering wheel and AC vents. The 3-spoke steering wheel looks just like the wheel of the Swift and Ritz.

Engine and Gearbox

The car features advanced F8D 796cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine that churns out 48bhp of power @6000 rpm (increased by 3.5 bhp) and 69Nm of torque @3500 rpm (increased by 11 percent). The engine is coupled with a 5 speed manual gearbox. CNG version of this car is also available. The CNG version comes with an integrated factory fitted Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPI) kit.

Mileage

The ARAI tested mileage of the car is 22.4 km per litre of petrol version which more than the Hyundai Eon. The CNG version of Alto 800 provides a mileage of 30.46 km per kilogram on highway. The car completes the 0 to 60 km/hr dash in only 6.4 seconds.

Boot Space

The boot space is a bit better but the boot hatch is somewhat narrow. The boot capacity of the car is just 177 litres which is enough considering the car size. However, the boot capacity is less than the boot space (211 litres) of Hyundai Eon.

Suspension and Braking

The front suspension of the Alto 800 is Gas Filled McPherson Strut and Torsion Roll Control Device whereas the rear suspension is Coil Spring, Axle & Isolated Trailing Arm and Gas Filled Shock Absorbers with Three Link Rigid. The car has solid disc brakes at front and drum type brakes at rear.

Safety Features

It also includes other active and passive safety features such as high mounted stop lamp, immobiliser, safety belts, front wiper & washer with intermittent, front frog lamps, head light levelling, collapsible steering column, etc.

  2. It has started a price war in entry level segment of cars.It can be a choice for those who have blind trust in Maruti but the reality is that market has far better option than it..
